The New York State Laborers' Union represents over 40,000 members employed in the construction industry and other fields throughout the state.

Our members are organized into more than 24 local unions and 5 district councils. We are a proud affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).

The New York State Laborers’ PAC fund organized a lobby day at the State Capitol in Albany, NY with help from the New York State Laborers’ Organizing Fund. It was an opportunity for our union leaders across the State to show our power, collective strength and send a clear message to our elected officials. There was a great turn out of business managers, organizers and other labor officials at the event. General Secretary–Treasurer and New England Regional Manager Armand Sabitoni attended the event along with other New England Region officials including - Vincent R. Masino, LIUNA Vice President and New England Assistant Regional Manager; Donato A. Bianco, Jr., International Representative and Christopher A. Sabitoni, International Representative.

The day before Lobby Day there were meetings with Senator Republican Leader Dean Skelos and Speaker of the New York State Assembly Sheldon Silver. Later that evening the group met with Independent Democratic Conference leader Jeff Klein and Senator Diane Savino.

Lobby Day began with an encouraging speech from our General Secretary-Treasurer and New England Regional Manager Armand E. Sabitoni. He explained the state of New York politics giving the business managers and local union leaders in the room some background into how this day developed and why it was so important. Locals were given informational packets on topics to discuss with their representatives such as infrastructure funding, mold remediation and design build.  The group met with over 35 different state legislative representatives and there were over 55 members of our union leadership on hand to attend these meetings. The group met back together for lunch and had speakers come in to talk about issues that were important to them and how they affect us as a union. Members that came to speak included Senator George Maziarz, Senator Mark Grisanti and Senator Tim Kennedy.
