The New York State Laborers' Union represents over 40,000 members employed in the construction industry and other fields throughout the state.
Our members are organized into more than 24 local unions and 5 district councils. We are a proud affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA).
The New York Roadway and Infrastructure Coalition held their annual Congressional reception in Washington. Attendance was strong from LIUNA locals in New York State (731, 1010, MTDC, and LECET) plus our contractors and state transportation officials. Karen Rae from the Governor’s office, Joan MacDonald from DOT, Tom Madison from the NYS Thruway, and Tom Prendergast from the MTA were all honored for their efforts. Senator Schumer spoke about the need for more transportation funding to provide work for union members. Several of our Congressional representatives also attended including Timothy Bishop, Brian Higgins, William Owens, Paul Tonko, Chris Collins and Nita Lowey.
