NEW YORK STATE LABORERS UNION APPLAUDS GOVERNOR CUOMO’S COMMITMENT TO HIGHWAY WORKER SAFETY

“We applaud Governor Cuomo for including tougher penalties for violence against highway workers in the FY 2021 Executive Budget,” said Patrick Purcell, Executive Director, New York State LECET and Greater New York LECET. “The New York State Laborers Union proudly represents the women and men tasked with ensuring our state’s roads, highways and bridges remain operational and safe. In turn, New York owes it to these hardworking Laborers to prioritize their safety, and we commend the Governor’s clear commitment to doing just that. Further, we look forward to working with the Governor on our proposed legislation to monitor work zone speed limits through photo enforcement (A8832/S5223). Above all else, our number one concern is that our members return home to their families at the end of each day. Measures such as the SLOW Act and our proposed safety legislation are more than just common sense; they help save lives.”
