A Win for New York’s Sports Fans and New York’s Workers:
New York City Football Club Stadium to be Built 100% Union

The Cement & Concrete Workers District Council and New York State Laborers’ Union LECET commend the New York City Football Club’s decision to build a state-of-the-art stadium in Willets Point – and to build it with 100% union labor.

Not only will this project completely transform this area of Queens, it will provide an incredible opportunity for New York’s deserving, hardworking union members throughout the city. Union members who can be counted on to get the job done right, safely and on time – all while earning solid, family-sustaining wages during a time when rent and the cost of living continue to rise.

“The Cement & Concrete Workers District Council is pleased to enthusiastically support the New York City Football Club’s investment in our city,” said Angelo Angelone, Business Manager, New York State Laborers’ Cement & Concrete Workers District Council. “The construction of the stadium will provide a tremendous economic boost for Willets Point and is another step forward in reinvigorating the community – a continuing post-pandemic priority. Our members work hard to keep our city moving forward and have earned the opportunity to work on this project. As always, we are ready to build.”

“The New York City Football Club is clearly an organization that gets it,” said Patrick Purcell, Jr., Executive Director, New York State Laborers’ LECET. “They are specifically choosing an urban area populated with a variety of businesses that soccer fans will patronize. They’re choosing a location that can benefit from affordable housing and the economic shot in the arm an influx of sports fans provides. Most of all – they’re choosing to have their stadium built by the most highly trained, skilled and capable workforce in New York City. Across the board, union labor is the gold standard, and our members are ready to deliver for New York’s soccer fans and for the Borough of Queens.”

The Cement & Concrete Workers District Council and New York State Laborers’ LECET are pleased to affirm their support of the project and encourage New York City’s elected officials to do the same and help expedite the groundbreaking of New York’s next premiere destination built for New Yorkers, by New Yorkers.
